A:Most clean distributed energy systems were first introduced into the marketplace to provide remote power for buildings beyond the electric grid, and for remote on-site applications such as lighting, pumping, telecommunications and security (military and homeland). These markets are still large and growing, as are building-based units dedicated to power certain circuits (the computer room to the telephone system), areas within buildings (operating rooms, school cafeterias and gymnasiums), or specialized circuits for security or manufacturing controls. New inteconnection technologies are being introduced into the market often and great strides in blending software and communications systems to onsite energy systems.
